NTTDATA Unlimited Future

LOOKING AT THE FUTURE 01 Monetization through Innovation The strategic importance of NaaS Network as a Service (NaaS) is made possible by the rise of more capable networks, and in particular by 5G. This is the key technology that has transformed many aspects of network services. It delivers higher bandwidth and lower latency, but faster and at lower cost. New networks, enabled by 5G, make it possible to treat network elements as composable assets, to configure services and collaborative environments with great speed and flexibility. This is what we mean by network as a service: it rapidly creates a connected environment that is secure, efficient, available wherever needed and highly secure. And all this can be done on the fly, with low lead times, and the ability to vary configuration as needed by individual clients. NaaS based services This kind of service is still innovative but is not completely new: we at NTT DATA have been delivering NaaS services for our clients for several years. But now we are seeing some very important changes- and these were highlighted at FYUZ, because they are potentially very important to network providers. The introduction of AI and ML is adding new forms of capability and speed to service provision, because it is making NaaS and related services highly automated. This new concept is defined as AIOps , and it is the key to Full Hybrid NaaS, in which network elements are treated as composable, in the same way as software elements are used in application development. This leads to some very important new possibilities for communication service providers (CSIs). It means they are now able to deliver high value services and business environments to clients, making CSIs more strategically important players in the service world. Revenue growth through disaggregation NaaS is the key to ensuring that telecom companies can increase their revenues, be stronger strategic partners to major enterprise clients and grow their margins. To illustrate this new approach, we will focus on two concepts that were discussed in depth at FYUZ: Edge Smart Spaces and 5G Network Slicing. 4
